Lydia Foch

Lydia is one of four children raised in the GTA when her family home was surrounded with nature, water, and plenty of safe space to play and be creative. She has always had a gift for adventure.  She has traveled the world extensively, while living and working abroad. People live their lives vicariously through her as her adventures leave many astounded. After high school, the travel instinct took over most of her life and she never looks back at the many unconventional experiences she has had which most wouldn’t have the courage to embark on. Many marvel at her drive, her tenacity, and persistence to strive towards achievements and accomplishments.

As an educator, chaplain at the high school level in Ontario and the college and university settings in Victoria, B.C. she has touched many lives. During her career as a teacher, she took students to an orphanage in El Salvador that houses people with physical and mental disabilities. Lydia has a heart for the vulnerable and has a passion to serve. She possesses a ceaseless thirst for ongoing learning and growth as she continues to study in some capacity. She is a mother, daughter, grandmother, friend, sister, aunt and loved by many.

Lydia is an outdoor enthusiast and loves to be active. She is a keen cyclist who thrives on being physically active, perhaps somewhat obsessive. Life always seemed to be a competition with herself, thriving on overcoming challenges. That was her character, until….

All of this came to an abrupt halt when Lydia suffered a serious cycling accident in the fall of 2023 just outside of Owen Sound, Ontario. She has learned how to slow down, what matters in life, to be still, simplify and enjoy the gift of each day without feeling the need to rush and chase another opportunity. While still healing, Lydia has let go of the urgent need to plan every detail of her life and simply be in the moment. She enjoys pausing in life to discover a more balanced way to live healthier. Lydia continues to overcome the challenges of her life-threatening accident while having sustained permanent physical damage and ongoing surgeon appointments, most recently, awaiting shoulder surgery. To help in her healing, Lydia has re-ignited her love for creativity and is exploring the idea on another book.
